Drive-thru marijuana shops are certainly not a new thing. In fact, it has been done before in Olympia and Detroit for the benefit of medicinal marijuana patients. However, a drive-thru recreational pot shop without any prescription required is something new, and it’s going to open on the pot culture-approved date of April 20 in Gold Beach, Oregon.
But for stoners who think that this would be the perfect opportunity to score an unwarranted baggie, it doesn’t work that way. In fact, the drive-up window is located across a hospital and works like a drive-thru pharmacy. It still works like the normal recreational pot shop, only a lot more convenient because you don’t have to leave your car to get some weed.
“I believe this venture is going to be quite an asset to the area,” said Julie Schmelzer, Curry County Economic Development Director, considering that the new pot shop is located just across the border from California, where recreational marijuana is still considered illegal. She added that this could “help Gold Beach and the southwestern coast become a destination for those interested in the new green tourism.”
